PAT Testing In Enfield (ITEE)

TISS Electrical carry out certified PAT (ITEE) testing across Enfield for offices, shops and other commercial premises, in line with the IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. Whether you run a shop on Church Street or work from a busy office in Enfield Town, our engineers work through your site with as little disruption to the working day as possible. Every item is checked using Bluetooth data logging and recorded on a clear written report, so your compliance records are ready whenever an insurer or inspector asks.

TISS Electrical carry out certified PAT testing for businesses across Enfield, keeping offices, warehouses, retail units and commercial premises compliant throughout the year.

Church Street sits at the heart of Enfield Town’s main shopping area, alongside Palace Gardens and Palace Exchange, while established office premises can be found around Southbury Road. To the east, the Brimsdown Industrial Estate in the Lea Valley holds industrial and storage units across several business parks, including Riverwalk Business Park. A shop and an industrial unit need very different testing plans, so our engineers organise each visit around the equipment you actually use.

How Often Does Equipment Need PAT Testing?

It depends on the equipment and how hard it’s used. The IET Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment sets out suggested starting intervals. Hand-held tools and extension leads used daily on a warehouse or workshop floor may need testing every 3 to 6 months, while office IT equipment that rarely moves can often go well over a year between tests. Your risk assessment sets the final schedule, and we’ll recommend intervals for your site after the first visit.

Is PAT Testing A Legal Requirement?

Not by name, but the duty behind it is. The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 require employers to keep electrical equipment maintained so it doesn’t cause danger, and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and PUWER 1998 add wider duties to keep work equipment safe. The law doesn’t set a testing method or a fixed interval, so most businesses use regular PAT testing as the clearest way to show they’ve met that duty.

An up to date test record is also useful evidence if an insurer or inspector asks how your equipment has been maintained.

What Happens If An Item Fails?

If an item fails, it’s marked on your report with an advisory photo showing which item it is and where it’s kept. It won’t be labelled as passed while the fault is still there, and we’ll tell you whether it needs repairing or replacing before anyone uses it again.

Frequently Asked Questions About PAT Testing In Enfield

How much does PAT testing cost in Enfield?

Cost depends on how many items are on site and how the premises is laid out, so a small shop and a full warehouse are quoted differently. Tell us roughly what you have and we’ll give you a clear figure before anything is booked.

Is ITEE testing the same as PAT testing?

Yes. ITEE stands for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment, the name the IET gave the process in the 5th edition of its Code of Practice. It’s the same service most people still call PAT testing, covering portable appliances and other equipment that plugs into the mains.

Can testing be booked outside normal business hours?

Yes. If your site needs testing before opening, after closing or around a shift pattern, we’ll arrange the visit to fit.

Do you cover single office units as well as larger industrial sites?

Yes. A unit with a handful of items gets the same attention as a full warehouse floor, and it’s priced on the size of the job.

Can PAT testing be done at the same visit as other electrical testing?

Yes. If your fixed wire testing (EICR) or emergency lighting test is due around the same time, we can cover them together through our combination testing, which means fewer visits to your site.
